About this course

This course aims to understand etiology and pathogenesis of various type of diseases, recognizing differences between healthy anddisease state at the molecular, genetic, cellular, and/or organ level, consequently enhancing students’ ability to formulate anappropriate provisional diagnosis.General class policies stipulated in the Student Handbook should be observed.■Discipline, attitude and professionalism are integral components of this course which will be monitored.■ Please keep mobile phones on silent mode during class.■ Please do not bring food to class. Water, coffee, and tea (preferably in closed containers) are fine.■ Minimum standardized score to pass the course is 60%.■ Minimum attendance to be eligible to write the exam is 75%.Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:1. Recognize the changes at the genetic, molecular, cellular, and organ levels in health and diseases ranging from cell injury,inflammation to neoplasia.2. Interpret patient’s signs and symptoms in order to formulate an appropriate provisional diagnosis.3. Comprehend the etiology and pathogenesis of cell death, ageing and also tissue repair and regeneration.4. Comprehend the etiology and pathogenesis of hemodynamic disorders, thromboembolic diseases, genetic and pediatricdiseases and nutritional disorders5. Comprehend the etiology and pathogenesis of neoplasia.6. Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis by clinicopathologic correlations
