LPIC-1 is a junior level certification for Linux administrators. You should be able to perform maintenance tasks with the command line, install & configure a workstation and be able to configure a basic network. The Linux footprint continues to grow. IT professionals who earn their CompTIA Linux+ certification can receive the LPIC-1 from LPI. Earning a Linux+ certification is the beginning of a path that will lead you to advanced, distribution-specific Linux certifications such as SUSE Certified Engineer.
