About this course

On completion of this module, you will be able to assess the strategic logistical implications of globalisation, evaluate the global governance structures that influence supply chains, and understand the concept and impact of reverse logistics. As supply chains expand across borders and become more complex, this module helps you develop the capability to lead and manage global logistics activities that enhance responsiveness, resilience, and competitiveness. You will explore how international logistics systems operate, how global market forces shape logistical decisions, and how organisations can design logistics strategies that balance cost efficiency with customer service, sustainability, and risk mitigation.This module enables you to examine the logistical challenges introduced by globalisation, including extended supply chains, longer lead times, increased inventory requirements, varying international regulations, and exposure to geopolitical and currency risks. You will also explore how to structure a global logistics and supply chain network, considering elements such as freight modes, distribution centre roles, third-party logistics (3PL and 4PL) involvement, and regional versus centralised configurations.
