Upon completion of this module, you will be able to explain the administrative processes behind contract development and how to measure contract performance. You will identify how to achieve competitive pricing and describe how effective tendering is achieved.In any organisation, a significant element of the procurement and supply function is based around the contracting process. This module is designed for those involved in the development, administration, and performance monitoring of contracts. To ensure success, such individuals must demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of how to achieve competitive pricing and effective tendering. Did you know: Framework contracts let buyers make repeat purchases under pre-agreed terms, saving time and money. Spot contracts, on the other hand, are one-off deals, often used for urgent or unpredictable needs,  like the rapid PPE purchases during COVID-19.In the UK procurement, framework agreements (a type of term contract) can save public bodies millions of pounds by allowing multiple purchases under one pre-agreed deal, without having to run a new tender every time.By contrast, spot contracts are one-off purchases, often used when prices are volatile or demand is unpredictable. Fun twist: during the COVID-19 pandemic, many emergency PPE purchases were made on spot contracts, because there was no time to use longer-term or framework agreements.This module has four outcomes.
