About this course

Welcome to our AP Biology course! This program has been carefully designed to align with the College Board AP Biology curriculum framework, ensuring that you are fully prepared for the exam while also gaining a deeper appreciation of the science of life. Over the span of eight comprehensive units, we will explore biology from its most fundamental building blocks to the complex interactions that define living systems.In this first unit, we begin with the foundations: the chemistry of life. Life as we know it is built on a small set of chemical principles, and understanding them is essential for everything else we will study. We will investigate the elements most critical to life—carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur—and examine how their unique properties make them indispensable in biological systems. From there, we will focus on the macromolecules of life: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
