Introduction

Electronic engineers produce solutions to build and improve systems, from those we use every day to industrial applications across a wide range of challenging and fast-growing sectors. On this degree, you will develop the tools and techniques to prepare you for a career in the broad areas of embedded systems, digital logic, electronic circuits, modern computer systems and architectures, computer-aided engineering, applied industrial engineering and evolving sensing technologies. You will exploit advances in electronics and computer technologies and develop the professional responsibilities needed to operate with confidence in the rapidly changing world of electronic engineering, while gaining fundamental skills in programming, mathematics and professional practice. You will graduate as a skilled professional with expertise aligned with the needs of organisations from a range of sectors, able to actively participate in, and manage, the executive design, development and maintenance of electronic engineering systems.

Entry Requirements

Typical offer 112-120 UCAS Tariff points. This must include A Level Mathematics at Grade C or above or equivalent. GCSE English Language at Grade C or Grade 4 or above, or equivalent, is also required.

Some examples of how you can achieve 112-120 UCAS Tariff points are as follows:

  • A Level: BBC-BBB;
  • BTEC Extended Diploma (or combination of BTEC QCF qualifications): Distinction, Merit, Merit (DMM);
  • T Level: Overall grade of Merit;
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): We are happy to accept IB qualifications which achieve the required number of UCAS Tariff points;
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma: 45 credits at Level 3, for example 15 credits at Distinction and 30 credits at Merit or 24 credits at Distinction and 21 credits at Merit. The required total can be attained from various credit combinations.
