BSc (Hons) Data Science

Data has been described as the oil of the 21st century, giving businesses ever-greater insight into their customers and clients. This degree delivers technical skills in data creation, processing, analysing, visualising and interpretation, and gives you a critical understanding of data repositories. With an option of taking a year out in industry before your final year, this degree provides you with the skills to work in the emerging roles of the data scientist, analyst and engineer. There is a big demand for employees with the ability to make sense of large amounts of collected data to help address major challenges.

Entry Requirements

Typical offer 112-120 UCAS Tariff points, for which no specific subjects are required, plus GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).

Please note, for all programmes in the Department of Computer Science, a level 2 numeracy qualification is not considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade C or Grade 4 in Mathematics.

Example Offers

Some examples of how you can achieve 112-120 UCAS Tariff points are detailed below.

• A Level: BBC-BBB;
• BTEC Extended Diploma (or combination of BTEC QCF qualifications): Distinction, Merit, Merit (DMM);
• T Level: Overall grade of Merit;
• International Baccalaureate (IB): We are happy to accept IB qualifications which achieve the required number of UCAS Tariff points;
• Access to Higher Education Diploma: 45 credits at Level 3, for example 15 credits at Distinction and 30 credits at Merit or 24 credits at Distinction and 21 credits at Merit. The required total can be attained from various credit combinations.
