Introduction

The master's programme in environmental science addresses current societal problems that are connected to global environmental and health issues. The transition to a more sustainable society is a major challenge, requiring joint efforts by universities, society and the private sector. The challenge is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach.

The programme begins with a course focusing on the complex issues related to land use, where different interests such as natural resource management, land claims and ecological compensation are discussed. In order to achieve reality-related conditions, we use so called challenge-based pedagogy, where students develop innovative solutions for complex sustainability challenges in project form in collaboration with the public and industrial sectors.
