Master’s Programme Business Analytics and Big Data Systems

The term ‘Big Data’ is used to describe the phenomenon of rapidly growing volumes of information on activities in all areas of contemporary society, the evolving technological capabilities to analyse these huge volumes of data, and the potential prospects for effective use of the results of this analysis to make forecasts and good administrative decisions.

The aim of the English-language programme in Business Analytics and Big Data Systems at HSE University’s Graduate School of Business is to train specialists capable of assessing the impact of big data technologies on companies’ operations; developing new models of corporate information infrastructure using big data technology; overseeing the implementation of analytical tools and solutions for big data management;  assessing the efficiency of such projects; and managing companies’ data.

The minimum requirements for admission in Master’s Programme Business Analytics and Big Data Systems at Higher School Of Economics for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Higher School Of Economics.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Higher School Of Economics as pre-requiste for admission in Master’s Programme Business Analytics and Big Data Systems.

The selection process is based on the portfolio competition. The candidates should provide the following documents:

2. Bachelor’s (Specialist’s or Master’s) diploma and official transcripts of previous educational studies. 
A good background in discrete mathematics, linear algebra, mathematical analysis, probability calculus, economics, software engineering, databases is needed. The Admission Committee takes into consideration the number of hours and final assessments. The candidates who have the honours degree will get additional support of their application packet.

The candidates should provide the originals or copies of diploma approved by the HSE Admission Committee. If the candidate is not yet complete with his/her degree, his/her should provide the transcripts issued by the higher education institution, indicating the number of degree credits earned to date.

The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials, and seminars. Lectures are often supported by individual and group project work through the use of software tools. Student performance is assessed by written examinations, tests, coursework, and a dissertation
