Introduction

The HSE Bachelor’s programme in International Relations offers a unique educational experience as it aims to produce IR specialists with fundamental knowledge in Economics who are also capable of working as analysts, IR experts, consultants, etc. In today’s world, it is no longer enough to simply be informed about the situation in a particular country or region, or to be able to analyse processes in various spheres, such as economics, politics, security, culture or IT. Instead, it is much more important to see the interconnection of all of these areas, while also being ready to constantly upgrade one’s knowledge with ever newer components from various subjects and fields.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor’s Programme International Relations at Higher School Of Economics for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

  • program specific academic requirment set by Higher School Of Economics.
  • English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Higher School Of Economics as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor’s Programme International Relations.

More Information

Our students study two foreign languages for a period of four years:

  • A student’s primary language should take up to 6-8 hours a week. Students are guaranteed to receive quality instruction in the language for which they enroll: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic;
  • Their secondary language instruction should come to 4 hours a week (compulsory: English). In addition, a number of theoretical disciplines in the professional cycle (starting from the second year of studies) are taught in English, thereby allowing students to engage in open communication and correspondence in a foreign language for an extended period in varying contexts.

At the end of the second year, all Bachelor’s degree students must pass an independent English language exam based on international standards
