In the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Twente, you will receive a project-based education on topics such as sustainable energy, healthcare technology, and smart manufacturing. Everything you learn you apply immediately in practice. Together with your fellow students, you will be seeking technical solutions to contemporary social challenges.
Students from outside the Netherlands should have a pre-university secondary education comparable to the Dutch vwo-diploma, with high passing grades in Mathematics and Physics as required subjects. As the programme is taught entirely in English, a high level of English proficiency (CEFR, B2/C1 level; minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or equivalent) is required as well.

Mechanical engineers devise, design, create and improve all kinds of machines, constructions, processes and techniques. For any social question that requires a high-tech answer, a mechanical engineer will be part of the solution.
The programme has an innovative structure, delivered by lecturers from both VU Amsterdam and the University of Twente.
Most of the lectures you attend will take place in Amsterdam. From time to time, you will travel to Enschede, because some of the lessons you will get there for example for laboratory work.
