Introduction

Master of Science in Applied Physics is a Masters program taught at Universiti Malaya, . The program is offered in campus-based modes with full Time options. To successfully obtain Master of Science in Applied Physics from Universiti Malaya you are required to complete 46 credit hours. After completion of Master of Science in Applied Physics you will be able to further continue for advance studies or start career as Physicist, Experimental Physicist, Meteorologist, Lecturer, Teacher, Researcher.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Science in Applied Physics at Universiti Malaya for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

  • program specific academic requirment set by Universiti Malaya.
  • English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universiti Malaya as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Science in Applied Physics.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree with Honors CGPA 3.0 and above or equivalent in the relevant field.

Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree of CGPA 2.7 to 2.99 may be considered if they meet at least one of the following criteria:

A. Having relevant work experience; or

B. Produce publications in related fields; or

C. is a recipient of a scholarship; or

D. is a graduate of the University of Malaya; or

E. is a government servants

Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree of CGPA 2.5 to 2.69 may be considered if they meet at least two of the criteria in (1) (A) to (E) above

The Department of Physics has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 1959. The academic staff members are actively involved in many areas of physics research. The strength of the Department lies in the areas of solid state physics, plasma physics, applied radiation, laser physics, photonics, solid state ionic, advanced materials, polymer physics, space physics as well as theoretical physics. The quality of research is of international standing with staff members regularly publishing in highly reputed international Journals. Beside research, some of the staff members also carry out consultancy work for local as well as international companies such as Tenaga Nasional Research & Development (TNRD), Nippon Glass (Japan) and Ciba Vision (USA). All the academic and consultancy activities provide the essential background for postgraduate training.
