M.Sc Physics

An English-speaking M.Sc. program in Physics will start in the winter semester of 2019/20. The German-speaking program M.Sc. Physik will continue, too.

The English-speaking MSc in Physics builds on fundamental knowledge of the discipline gained in the bachelor’s degree and imparts specialist expertise on current questions and debates in the field. Research methods, independent and responsible action, strategic methodological planning, and the critical assessment of scientific findings from the focus of the program. The program aims to enable students to carry out scientific work independently and to prepare them for doctoral studies. Opportunities exist to participate in research projects at institutes such as the Center for Optical Quantum Technologies (ZOQ), the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL), and DESY.

• a bachelor’s degree in physics from a German or European university OR
• a bachelor’s degree in another mathematics/physics subject comparable to the curriculum of the consecutive bachelor’s degree in physics
• proficiency in English
