Introduction

Our English-language bachelor's degree in Applied Biology (B.Sc.) at the H-BRS focuses on the modern disciplines of biology: cell culture, immunology, and genetic engineering. The focus of the course is on clinical research, drug development, and quality assurance and offers the best conditions for a career in industry and research.

The study program combines subjects as human biology, microbiology, genetics, and cell culture with chemistry and computing sciences - excellent preparation for either a career in industry or at university. The standard period of study for obtaining the BSc degree is six semesters, including a final project.

More Information

Our students learn and research in modern laboratories in the areas of fluorescence-based flow cytometry (FACS), PCR application, and the antibody-based detection method (ELISA). The Applied Biology (B.Sc.) the course focuses on modern subjects and techniques in biomedicine, such as genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and clinical research.

Practical training is an important part of the course: the internships take place on modern equipment, as can be found in everyday life in biomedical research. This includes fluorescence microscopes, PCR devices, FACS machines, and patch-clamp workstations.

Manageable group sizes and a balanced student-lecturer ratio are the basis for a pleasant learning and working atmosphere. Internationality is very important to us: We maintain cooperation with partner universities all over the world, where you can complete one or more semesters abroad.
