Master of Veterinary Studies

Master of Veterinary Studies is a Masters program taught at University of Melbourne, . The program is offered in campus-based modes with full Time options. To successfully obtain Master of Veterinary Studies from University of Melbourne you are required to complete credit hours. After completion of Master of Veterinary Studies you will be able to further continue for advance studies or start career as Veterinarian, Veterinary Hygiene Inspector, Veterinary Technician.

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Veterinary Studies at University of Melbourne for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by University of Melbourne.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by University of Melbourne as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Veterinary Studies.

• A Bachelor of Veterinary Science (usually honours level) or recognised equivalent qualification. All students should be aware of the University’s English language requirements.
• Students must be eligible for general registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria in accordance with legislative requirements to practice as a veterinarian in Victoria.

Students enrol in this course on a part-time basis. Students enrolled in the Master of Veterinary Studies may enrol concurrently in the Master of Veterinary Science (Clinical), a clinically-focused Masters by Research degree, as part of the Clinical Residency Training Program.

The Clinical Residency Training Program is available only for Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents.

Each year the Faculty issues a call for applications, usually in July.

Applicants to the program will be evaluated on the basis of their written application, an interview (for short-listed candidates) and referee reports. Successful applicants will have: a veterinary degree that is registrable with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria; good written and verbal communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills.

The Master of Veterinary Studies runs parallel with training for the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (FANZCVS). Attend and participate in clinical rounds, seminars, journal club and post-mortem presentations.
